Eugene F. Leach, Jr.

Eugene F. Leach, Jr., 82, of Finleyville died unexpectedly Monday, July 9, 2018 at home.

He was born July 27, 1935 in Courtney, the son of the late Eugene F. Leach, Sr. and Elizabeth Ostifin Leach.

Eugene was a graduate of Monongahela High School and retired in 1993 as a welder with more than 37 years of service from Equitable Gas Company.

He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Finleyville.

Eugene was a DIY guy who built and fixed anything and everything.  His interests were working to improve the family home, getting his lawn mowed before the neighbors and talking with his gas company buddies.  He also was always the first one out to plow snow for the neighbors.

He enjoyed music, dancing with his wife, fishing and hunting with his son and best buddies, family vacations and was always ready for an overnight visit with his grandchildren and attending sporting events.

Eugene was humble and kind to all who knew him and the finest husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and neighbor.

On June 11, 1955, he married the love of his life, Bertha Mae Garry, who survives.  They were married 63 years this past June.

Also surviving is a son, Eugene Garry (Sherrie) Leach of Washington, a daughter, Karen (James R.) Donovan of Monongahela; three grandchildren, James Patrick Donovan, Kelly Erin Donovan and Michael Taylor Leach; two sisters in laws, Edna Pearl Russell and Stella Garry and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Robert W. Leach.

Friends will be received Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Father Richard Tusky as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Finleyville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department, 3562 Washington Ave., Finleyville, PA  15332.

SHADES OF ELEGANCE was sent by Angela Braun and Anastasia Possino.

Dear Karen, Though I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Leach, I'm assuming the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He leaves an incredible legacy in his daughter - a wonderful woman that I am proud to know and call my friend. Please accept our deepest condolences during this difficult time. With love: Angela, Anastasia and the U.S. East Team

to Bertha Ma and family we are so sorry for your loss. Gene and my Dad spend a lot of time together in their yards. My Dad would hear Gene cutting his grass and he would say I need to cut my grass. I know he will be greatly miss.
