Jon Monnig Obituary

Jon A. Monnig, 84, formerly of Venetia, died Friday February 16, 2024, in McMurray Hills Manor.

He was born February 24,1939 in Crafton, a son of the late Herbert and Eleanor Monnig.

Jon was employed as a body shop technician and shop manager with the former Art Jones Buick in Pleasant Hills.  He also was the owner and operator of two ice cream parlors and member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons.

Jon was an avid classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling and taking car rides, but times spent at the beach or with his dog Dottie were his favorite. 

Surviving are his wife Carol Kelly Monnig, two daughters; Lisa Petre of Venetia and Leslie Middlekauff of Carnegie, three step-children; Tom (Sharon) Groff of Etna, Lance Groff of Venetia and Susan (Bob) Hoag of Venetia, five grandchildren; Kristen, Rachel, Brandi, Ed and Matthew and four great grandchildren; Carter, Camron, Maddy and Brayden.

Deceased are his first wife of 24 years; Carol McKenna Monnig, brother; Herbert Monnig, sister Phyllis Adams and son in law Jim Petre.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service from 1-4pm Saturday February 24th at the Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall 3562 Washington Avenue Finleyville.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Kegel Funeral Home, Inc. David P. Kegel, Supervisor, in Finleyville.

Memorial donations can be made to Gateway Hospice 601 Technology Dr. Ste 120 Canonsburg, PA 15317, St. Jude Children’s Hospital (Stjude.org) or to an animal charity of the donor’s choice.
