Betty Jane (Harkins) Robinson, 96, of Gastonville, passed away Tuesday August 15, 2023
She was born October 2, 1926 in Courtney, a daughter of the late Hugh and Jennie Payne Harkins.
Betty was a 1944 graduate from Monongahela High School, worked at McCray’s 5&10 and Mon Valley Hospital Food department in her younger days. She retired from Ringgold School District Finley Middle School having worked in the cafeteria.
Betty was a member of the Mingo Creek Presbyterian Church (where she was married in 1946) and her wonderful prayer group. She was instrumental in the restoration of the local Korean and Vietnam Veteran’s Memorials. She was a wonderful Christian giving mother who loved to camp at their rustic cabin in Marienville, watch her hummingbirds, do crossword puzzles, and spend time with family / friends. Betty was an avid Steelers football and Shark Tank fan. Betty was as sweet as the candy she did eat. She had a sweet tooth which made Betty an expert at making her famous peanut butter fudge and Christmas rock candy. Betty was someone who really cherished the moments she had with her children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren.
Surviving is one son: Albert Robinson Jr. of Hazelton, one daughter Janie (Ken) Blymiller of Naples Fl, two grandchildren Craig Blymiller and Jeremy (Nakita) Blymiller, three beloved great grandchildren Otto, Madelyn, Riley and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband; Albert “Sparky” Robinson (the love of her life for 72 years), Sr. and daughter Becky Robinson.
Special thanks to her old neighbors and church friends and the staff at Hallsworth House (Monessen) where she spent her last year and half for their caring love and support.
“Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again”
