Charles Telban, age 92, of Peters Township, passed away April 22, 2026.
Born on May 26,1933 in Hackett, Pennsylvania, son to the late Charles and Amelia Aue Telban. He married Mary Ellen Bornfhoft Hawk on December 15, 1972, in Reynoldsdale, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his two stepchildren Forest Owens and Gary Owens, James Leslie brother-in-law, and Margie Telban sister-in-law.
He has 3 nephews, Jeff Leslie, Richard Koval and Jonathan Telban and 7 nieces, Linda (Leslie) McNamee, Carrie (Koval) Trax, Kathy (Koval) Marie, Dana (Telban) Cass, Lori (Telban) Vander Veen, Wendy (Telban) Garrison, and Darcy (Telban) Walter.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen Telban, brother, John Telban, sister Rose Marie (Telban) Leslie, and sister Patty (Telban) Koval.
Charles graduated from Peters Township High School in 1951 where he was the Valedictorian of his class. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War obtaining the rank of Corporal. Returning home he attended Penn State University, McKeesport Campus, majoring in Industrial Electricity (Electrical Technology) graduating in June 1963.
He started as a plumber and electrician for Chapman corporation. He was member of IBEW Local Union #5 and worked his last 10 years at Lighthouse Electric.
He enjoyed sharing the Telban family history and had many family pictures and stories to share with the family. He grew up in Hackett, PA and worked in his parents’ grocery store, Telbans Meat & Groceries.
He enjoyed hunting with his brother law Jim and nephew Jeff and many other family members and hunting buddies. He went on many hunting trips out of state.
He had a love for animals and had many dogs and cats over the years. He also enjoyed feeding the wildlife on his property.
He really enjoyed watching sports. He attended many Indianapolis 500 races with his friends. He also went to many Steeler, Pirate and Penguin games with his nephew Richard over the years.
He will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who have grown up with wonderful memories of him at family gatherings.
