Charles Volk, Sr.
Charles ‘Chuck’ Volk, Sr., 91, of Finleyville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at The Residence at Hilltop in Carroll Township.
He was born March 16, 1926 in Ginger Hill; a son of Nicholas and Pauline Basurup Volk.
Mr. Volk was retired as an operating engineer with Local 66 in Pittsburgh.
He served in The U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Monongahela and American Legion Post 613 in Finleyville.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Perich Volk; a son, Charles Volk, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Finleyville; a daughter, Charlene Richards and her husband Scott of Finleyville; two grandchildren, Christopher and Ashley; two great grandchildren, Konner and Kloie; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, David P. Kegel, director, 3560 Washington Avenue in Finleyville. Panachida Services will be celebrated at 7:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Monongahela with the Very Reverend Edward Pehanich as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery with full military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Memorial contributions can be made to The Residence at Hilltop, 210 Route 837, Monongahela, PA 15063.
