Darlene was born in New Castle, PA on September 21, 1936, to Ted and Ruth (Greer) Haas. She was the oldest of seven children and graduated from McKeesport High School in 1953. She worked at Super Dollar in McKeesport before spending 26 years at Liberty USA.
She married the late Alfred Pelkey on March 19, 1977, and they shared 48 years of marriage before his passing in June 2025. Darlene loved her husband deeply and enjoyed his love of horses, as well as their Yorkie, Coco. She found joy in crocheting, painting ceramics, and collecting lock-n-lock products, often gifting them to others.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy, and she was Presbyterian.
Dar cherished her family and especially loved visits and phone calls with those she cared about. She had a beautiful smile, a warm laugh, and a deep love for being surrounded by those she loved.
She is survived by her grandchildren Amanda (David) Stone, Melissa (Ryan) McConnell, and Ethan Dobranski; her great-grandchildren Rayne, Ryan Jr., and Conor; her siblings Thelma Lauritzen, Jimmy Haas, Nicki (David) Kovalcik, and Sandy Doby; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ted Dobranski; and her siblings Ted Hazard and John Haas.
