James Mervin

January 11, 2022

MERVIN, James L.

On January 11, 2022, James passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Jim was born in the house he grew up in the tiny village of Hackett, PA, on a street later named “Mervin Drive”. He graduated from Peters Township High School in 1952, where he played baseball and was a star basketball player.

Jim dedicated over 40 years to Chapman Corporation and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #12, retiring in 1996. He was an avid gun collector and gardener who enjoyed trap shooting and created many fond memories hunting out west in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, South Dakota and Utah with his sons. Jim was very generous and always willing to help his friends in need. He was sharp and always had a joke up his sleeve, even in his final days. He was loved and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Fefolt) Mervin, wife Beverly (Crouch), 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by sons, Jeffrey (Ann), Richard (Maria), Scott (Tracy) and Michael (Kathy), 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
