John G. Smida
John G. Smida, 92, of Finleyville, died Thursday November 24, 2022, in Paramount Senior Living of Bethel Park
He was born April 19, 1930, in Bentleyville, a son of the late John and Ann (Ondash) Smida
John was retired from Ionics in Bridgeville where he worked as an Engineer. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Life Member of the Finleyville Vol. Fire Department, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. John enjoyed golf and baseball, excelling in both with three career holes in one and being selected to all-star military baseball teams.
Surviving are his wife; Dorothy Perchinsky Smida, two daughters; Lorraine Checque (Donald Fox) and Nancy (Paul) Dayen both of Finleyville, three grandchildren; Cody, Jessica and Zachary, three great-grandchildren; Hannah, Sonny and Colton and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are one brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday in Kegel Funeral Home, Inc. David P. Kegel, Supervisor 3560 Washington Avenue Finleyville. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10am Monday in St. Francis of Assisi Church (St. john XXIII Parish) 3609 Washington Avenue Finleyville. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
