Michelle Lee Appel, 38, of West Homestead, passed away Friday September 5, 2025.
She was born March 1, 1987, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Michael (Denise) Appel and the late Patricia Appel.
Michelle was employed as a medical assistant at various locations in the Pittsburgh area.
She found her greatest joy simply soaking in the peace of the outdoors. She cherished camping trips with those she loved, starry nights, and anything the color purple. Her sense of wonder and appreciation for life’s simple beauty was special. But nothing meant more to her than her children. Though life’s path led her to place them into the arms of another loving couple, the bond they shared never faded. Together, they created a unique and beautiful extended family—one built not just on biology, but on mutual love, deep respect, and unwavering connection. It was a family that redefined what it means to belong.
Her life was a testament to love in all its forms: wild, generous, unconditional. She showed us that family isn’t just who we’re born to, but who we choose to stand beside, always.
Surviving in addition to her father are two children; Grace and Kaydin, two brothers; Christopher and Michael (Ashley) Appel, one sister; Kelly (Curt) Lynch and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are private and under direction of Kegel Funeral Home, Inc. in Finleyville.
