Obed D. Lewis
Obed D. Lewis, 89, of Finleyville died Sunday, December 25, 2016 in the emergency room of Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Jefferson Hills Borough.
He was born June 26, 1927 in Venetia; a son of Obed T. and Eleanor Patton Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was retired as a guard at the Washington County Correctional Facility and also served as a board member and sexton of Finleyville Cemetery Company.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of Wright’s United Methodist Church in Venetia and a life member of American Legion Post 613 in Finleyville.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane ‘Dolly’ Hart Lewis; a son, Larry Lewis and his wife Vickie of Finleyville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Lewis of Finleyville; a brother, Ben Lewis of Nottingham Township; two sisters, Marie Rhodes of Washington and Charlene Jones of Nebraska; five grandchildren, Larry II, John, Obie (Jen) and Lance (Roxanne) Lewis and Tonya (P.J.) Myers; four great grandchildren, Chance, Patience, Thrice and Jaxson; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Obed R. Lewis; two brothers, Colin and Bill Lewis; and two sisters, Erma Orndoff and Verna Mae Stilley.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, David P. Kegel, director, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville, where services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 29, 2016 with Pastor Ken Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in Finleyville Cemetery. American Legion Post 613 will conduct services at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
