Richard "Dick" Patellos Sr.

Richard Joseph Patellos, Sr., 85, of Finleyville, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on August 23, 2024.

Son of Joseph and Adella Patellos, he was born April 19, 1939 in Newfield, PA.  He graduated from Snowden HS in Library and then Duquesne University with a Pharmacy degree. Richard and his wife Shirley owned Patellos’ Pharmacy in Finleyville from 1976 to 1996. He was fully devoted to his community and dedicated his work to helping as many people as he could. After his store closed, he worked at Rite Aid and retired in 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Mary Louise Hajduk.

He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley Ann (Daugherty) of 63 years, and their children Rick and wife Marie of Pataskala, OH, Bruce of Finleyville, Theresa Pfab and husband Andrew of Bethel Park; Seven grandchildren: Kevin, Nicole, Bethany, Ryan, Lindsay, Brandon and Brooke; great-grandchildren Joseph and Jaina; sisters Patricia Macey, JoAnne Nicotera and husband Richard, as well as beloved brother-in- law Kenneth and sister-in-law Mona Daugherty, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Richard was a man of great faith and a member of St. John XXIII (St. Francis of Assisi) parish in Finleyville. In his earlier years he enjoyed taking care of his home and yard. His proudest moments and greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family who are so thankful for him and the many blessings and memories his life has given them.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 8pm Tuesday in Kegel Funeral Home, Inc. David P. Kegel, Supervisor 3560 Washington Avenue Finleyville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Wednesday in St. Francis of Assisi Church (St. John XXIII Parish) with interment following in Finleyville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Finleyville Vol. Fire Department 3562 Washington Avenue Finleyville, PA 15332
