Ruby M. Daugherty
Ruby M. Daugherty, 90, of Finleyville, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at her daughter’s home in McMurray.
She was born September 23, 1926 in Ginger Hill; a daughter of Gomer and Clara Shaffer Williams.
Mrs. Daugherty was a dance instructor who owned and operated Ruby Daugherty and Sherry School of Dance in Library.
She was the founder and original director of the nine time world champion ‘Modernettes’ Baton Corps, a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania for over 50 years and a charter member of the National Baton Twirlers Association Hall of Fame.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry Vignoli-Parisi and her husband Patrick of McMurray, a grandson, Troy Vignoli (Michelle); three great-grandchildren Guy, Miranda and Ava; two step-grandchildren, Jim (Marione) and Ed (Jenny) Parisi; five step great-grandchildren, Joey, Pete, Clare, Cathy and Marie; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, Harry “Clem” Daugherty, who died in April of 2016, a brother and two sisters.
Friends will be received from 6-9 P.M. Monday and from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. Tuesday at Kegel Funeral Home, Inc., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, David P. Kegel, director, 3560 Washington Avenue, Finleyville, where services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 2, 2017. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills.
